Job Summary:
The Program Director oversees all areas of Beacon Treatment Center’s program curriculum.  It will be the goal of the Director, to in all ways, improve upon the existing Program Curriculum.  The Director will assign curriculum topics to teachers, counselors, and volunteers and ensure they are teaching according to the topic. The director will act as the main instructor of the Program which will take place in group and individual settings within the Center and offsite. A significant role of the Program Director is to ensure that each teacher has the greatest impact over the clients at Beacon Treatment Center that he/she can and to that end, will help teachers learn how to teach.    
The Program Director is a leader and teambuilder who has clinical oversight of other Behavioral Health Technicians, other teachers, and volunteers including administrative tasks such as documentation, evaluations, and supervision. 
This responsibility also includes the development and oversight of all Therapeutic Capstone Events (T-Caps). Outdoor activities or Therapeutic Capstone Events (T-Cap’s) are capstone activities that reinforce lesson topics from the Program curriculum. These Hands-On activities teach the principles of the lesson through physical activity, additional curriculum, planning, and much preparation.  The Director is a team player and works with the Clinical Director and other subordinate BHTs to ensure that each Outdoor event and T-Cap is fine-tuned, well-organized and has a successful outcome.  Outdoor work will extend to overnight activities for extended days and in adverse conditions.
The Program Director has a primary role in maintaining an atmosphere of strong camaraderie and brotherhood in an ever changing group and understands the important aspects of a healthy group. 

 

Job Duties:
  • Works with the Clinical Director’s guidance to assure that all program curriculum is in compliance with Arizona Health Department Psych IOP requirements.
  • Oversees all areas of Beacon Treatment Center’s program curriculum including analyzing existing program offerings and developing, promoting, organizing, and implementing additional programming that will benefit clientele.
  • Makes assignments for topics within classes.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and ensures subordinate Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) are facilitating classes effectively.
  • Develops and oversees Therapeutic Capstone Events. 
  • Interacts and meets with clients regularly  
  • Understands and can perform, if needed, all BHT responsibilities including:
    • Facilitating group therapy sessions in classroom or field
    • Administering drug screens (UAs, swabs, breathalyzers)
    • Searching client’s dorms, property, and individual clients.
    • Case Management, Intake, Scribe, and Outdoor Recreation duties.
    • Schedule and/or lead service projects
    • Planning, scheduling, and attending outdoor and overnight activities.
    • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient progress.
    • Ensure group therapy sessions are aligned with client treatment plans.
    • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all clients.
    • Maintain proper documentation of client progress including overall progress, body language, participation, and engagement
    • Participate in program development and evaluation.
    • Coordinate wellness checks, doctor appointments, and other necessary services to ensure continuity of care for clients.
    • Participate in admissions processes, including intake assessments and orientation, ensuring clients feel supported from the start.
    • Assist clients through the discharge process, providing resources and support to facilitate a smooth transition to independent living.
    • Document critical steps and progress within the recovery program, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
    • Address the day-to-day needs of clients, offering support and ensuring their well-being throughout their recovery journey.
    • Be sensitive, respectful, and personable when interacting with clients, building a compassionate and supportive environment.
    • Empower clients by encouraging self-reliance and helping them develop life skills to achieve self-sufficiency.
    • Collaborate with the treatment team to regularly assess clients' progress, adjust individualized plans, and provide ongoing support.
  • Counsels with BHTs regarding client conduct and disciplinary measures.  
  • Conducts BHT staff meetings and daily debriefs
  • Assists in recruiting BHTs and other additional staff as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Qualified Behavioral Health Technician (meets one of the following):
    • Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a field related to behavioral health.
    • Has a bachelor's degree and at least one year of full-time behavioral health work experience.
    • Has an associate's degree and at least two years of full-time behavioral health work experience.
    • Has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and a combination of education in a field related to behavioral health and full-time behavioral health work experience totaling at least three years.
    • Is licensed as a practical nurse, according to A.R.S Title 32, Chapter 15, with at least three years of full-time behavioral health work experience.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communicating skills (written and oral)
  • Strong time management, organizational, and critical thinking skills to prioritize clients needs. 
  • Current Driver’s License required
  • CPR and Basic First Aid certification required (or become certified within 30 days of hire)
  • Takes responsibility for professional growth and seeks opportunities to improve skills.
  • Communicates effectively through verbal, non-verbal, and written means.
  • Adapts to changing work demands and environments with flexibility.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking in monitoring and responding to client needs.
  • Must be physically able to participate in activities such as hikes or other physical tasks.
  • At least 2+ years of sobriety
